Trendsetting 2014
1/04/2014It's 2014 so let's have a look at the trends for the following season. I have chosen new ones I want to wear this year and some of them were already my favourite. As I said some of them are completly new in 2014 and some could have been seen in previous seasons.
It's a big comeback of the backpack!The backpack trend is pure 90's item. That's the time when it become a part of the outfit. Lots of the brands, colors and shapes . I must say the only good thing that was good in the 90's fashion was grungy look and it was there ... backpack hanging slouchy on our backs or carried on one shoulder. The top designers are making their own backpacks this year including Chanel,The Row, Rag&Bone.
Chessboard checks is a check pattern for 2014. The main designers responsable for it becoming trendy are : Rodarte, Ralph Lauren and Balmain, House of Holland. Chessboard checks are minimalist but very chic and classic at the same time. The contrast is like when day becomes a night.
Another strong 2014 trend are boyfriend jeans which are my favourite for a long time . You can roll them up and pair with ankle boots or trainers. Denim style jeans are also hot this year!
Especially deep indigo dyes or very bright blue and also cut out denim mini dresses.
And there is a place for a sport... in fashion. Sportwear materials like performance fabrics and satins are used by the the designers for the catwalk collections. Gucci , Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hillfiger main responsables for this trend.
And this season Fashion meets art or art meets fashion . The top designers Celine, Chanel, Muccia Prada are more and more infuenced by art. Even Karl Lagerfeld organized one of the catwalk shows in the art gallery. Inspirations at Celine was said to be Brassai's graffiti work , as sketch books were carried like accessories at Chanel and illustrations by Jeanne Detallante, Gabriel Specter and El Mac appeared printed on looks and across the walls of Prada.
Shine bright like a diamond! We are Dancing Queen ! In 2014 there is lots of space for sequins , high-shiny and metallic materials and also gold is coming back! It's not only for the party but in our daily outfits . Seen in: Gosia Baczyńska, Lanvin, Fendi, Saint Lauren , Versace, Tom Ford.
Again flower power! It's another season for flowers. This time not only for a summer . There is a breath of florals prints and patterns for street fashion with designers turning to poppies , roses and camelias for their clothes. Burberry , Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior are the main suspects in this matter ;)
And something every woman has in the wardrobe - Biker Jacket. The makeover of this jacket includes Marc Jacob's version with feathers, flowers and precious gems. Jean Paul Gaultier showed corseted design , sleeveless that looks very neo-style.
Powder Pink! Very girly bubblegum and cooton candy pinks are the softest trends this year. It's all very pastel and sweet. Alexander Wang, Balenciaga and Isabel Marant you can blame them for it ! :)
