Personal style - Do you have it?

3/31/2014

On Saturday  in London started another edition of Vogue Festival 2014 in association with Harrods. The festival included a Alexa Chung , Manolo Blanik and Luella Bartley on  day one schedule. First Vogue festival launched  just three years ago. The  Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman said about the festival "I'm delighted that our line- up is bigger than ever. Our speakers are all leading figures in the field and I can guarantee that all the talks, discussions and interviews will be both entertaining and informative ". The subjects of talks of the first day were:

  • " The"My fashion life" - Manolo Blahnik.
  • " Personal style and do you have it " Alexa Chung,Lucinda Chambers
  •  " Power of two in fashion"- Proenza Schouler

I decided to attend the last one with Alexa Chung  She frequently appears on best dressed lists, is a regular model for elle , Vogue and Harper's Bazaar .  Chung is a muse to many fashion designers and Vogue's Anna Wintour has described Chung as  - "a phenomenon".  Harlech is a creative consultant and writer with a long association with the couturiers Karl Lagerfeld and John Galliano.Alexandra Shulman said about Amanda Harlech that she is  - "Karl Lagerfeld muse ".  One of the guests, Lucinda Chambers is fashion director at British Vogue, she said that -  " Style is a self- expression, but you have to have a self to express ."
Discussion was about style.  There were questions asked - " if less is more ". Everyone agreed  definitely that  minimalism is the key. One important point of the discussion was -  "if the money is the main key to have great style" Of course it isn't but it helps and  Alexa Chung mentioned about vintage market in Bricklane and  Camden Market as good source for cheap designer outfits. Lucinda Chambers added that - '' if you don't have style then you have to buy it ''.She also said that -  " There is a bigger breath of style than ever before , which can be intimidating "and " You may not know who are you or who you want to be, but at least there are so many options to choose. "
The conversation reached to the point - " Does the style is expression of you ? "Chambers  added -  " When I look in the mirror after I get dressed, I think, That's me, that's who I am. " also said  "Don't lose your bottle - you will make mistakes and that's fine. "
Harelch main quote is " just to be yourself ". She gave advice to everyone , not to copy blindly from fashion shows and to use catwalks as a source of the inspiration for your daily outfits.. One of the important questions was " What are the parts of our style? " The answer is our body language. If we feel comfortable in the clothes we wear , we look natural and confident. If something is too tight or too big our body language will not be natural. Sussie Bublle is a great example of how to stylish and comfortable.
I wonder what Anna Dello Russo  meant  when she said -  " fashion is always unconfortable".
I guess I can't agree with her but it's very interesting and debatable quote. The festival is a great place for fashion lovers. Between discussion there was a chance to buy some exclusive vogue clothing, books and magazines. There were also stands with the make up, nails and hair dressing professionals. I was very happy to be part of it this year!
